Some people have taken some things that John Mayer said in the Playboy interview out of context and as an excuse to project hate toward Mayer. It is easy to rationalize hate against anyone. No one is perfect. But passive hate is often more about what is going on with us and less about what is going on with the people we are "dissatisfied."

MAYER: I don’t think I open myself to it. My dick is sort of like a white supremacist. I’ve got a Benetton heart and a fuckin’ David Duke cock. I’m going to start dating separately from my dick.

So some people are trying to say that Mayer is a racist. Most people who know Mayer's history would not think that. Rules of Sexual Attraction are what they are and that is what Mayer was talking about. Why can one person make things go zing and another person, just as beautiful in our mind, just as pleasant, just as fun to be around, not cause any zing? It is just the way it is.

Some people would like to think that sexual persuasion is as simple as straight or gay but most sex studies do not support that.

Some people mainly have sexual chemistry with people who are of their own race. Other people may be more attracted to people of a different race. I know one person who defines themself as a gay male but who jokes about their attraction to asian women. Is that racist? Should things never be said just because it may sound racist?

Most sexual attraction is about the individuals, the moment, the smell, the body language, the words, the thoughts. It generally isn't about any stereotype or fetish. The zing either happens or it doesn't. The relationship either works out or it doesn't.

Over all I thought the interview was very good and interesting. It shows what Playboy was once most famous for; well, right after the centerfold and maybe the jokes.
